PrivShare

About PrivShare

A zero-knowledge way to share sensitive information with self-destructing links.

Our Mission

PrivShare was built with a single purpose:to make sharing sensitive information as secure and private as possible. In a world where data breaches and privacy violations are increasingly common, we believe everyone deserves a simple, reliable way to share confidential information.

The current MVP implements browser encryption, account auth, keyless recipient emails, self-destructing retrieval rules, and lifecycle cleanup. Production compliance work remains planned.

Maintainer Accountability

PrivShare is an independent project maintained by Yash Aggarwal. The current public trust baseline uses named individual accountability rather than presenting PrivShare as a registered company-operated service.

Privacy by Design

Designed around a zero-knowledge, security-first architecture.

That means:

  • Data is encrypted in your browser before reaching our servers.
  • The server stores only encrypted share content.
  • Retrieval is denied after burn-after-reading or expiration.
  • Sensitive logging is prohibited by the project rules.

PrivShare cannot read share plaintext.

Why We Built It This Way

Most tools prioritize convenience over security. We flipped that.

Our principles:

  • Assume systems can be compromised.
  • Minimize data lifetime.
  • Remove human access entirely.
  • Let cryptography do the work.

Ephemeral sharing, not long-term data storage.

Who PrivShare Is For

Intended for individuals and teams who handle sensitive information daily:

Developers & DevOpsAPI keys, credentials, env variables
Business TeamsConfidential documents & contracts
Legal & HealthcareRegulated & sensitive data
Privacy-Conscious UsersNo digital footprint sharing

If the data matters, PrivShare is built for it.

Transparency & Trust

Trust is earned through implementation, tests, and transparency.

  • Browser-native encryption design.
  • Precise privacy claims backed by implementation.
  • No sensitive-data logging or hidden tracking.

Expiration, burn-after-reading, revocation, and deletion controls are built in.

Security Goals

Privacy commitments:

  • Client-side authenticated encryption.
  • Zero-knowledge architecture.
  • Auto-destruction after viewing.
  • Ephemeral shares with no server-side plaintext recovery.
